Working with Model RealTime on a daily basis means using the same set of commands many times, and a need to easy navigate between different views and to play with the tool layout. Keyboard shortcuts can help you to save time and be more efficient.

In this newsletter we list you some of the most handy key bindings to use in Model RealTime. Don't forget that available key bindings in Model RealTime and Eclipse in general depends on many factors, including what view or editor is selected, whether a dialog is open and so on. However, once you become used to them, you will understand the context intuitively.

Ctrl+Shift+U - Go to Superclass You can use this key binding when you work with a diagram and want to open the diagram of the superclass.

Ctrl+Alt+V - Navigate to Diagram Once you have an element selected in the Project Explorer, this key binding will open related diagram and highlight the corresponding symbol.

Quite often you end up with a lot of open editors in Model RealTime and consequently need to navigate between them. You can use the mouse for this, but that often disturbs your flow when you are typing code or editing diagrams. Here are shortcuts which will save your time:

Ctrl+Shift+E - List of All Open Editors

Ctrl+Shift+F6 - Cycle Through Open Editors in Forward or Backward Direction

Ctrl+Page Down/ Page Up - Move to the Next/Previous Editor

Whenever you are working with the code or browsing a diagram, use Ctrl + M to maximize the active view.

Alt+Shift+B - Build Active TC

Ctrl+Shift+M - Search for Model Element

Ctrl+J - Incremental Find, also works in diagrams.

You can change the default key bindings or define new key bindings using the preferences at Preferences -> General -> Keys.

To easily browse all existing key bindings in a pop-up window, use Ctrl+Shift+L.
